This position is located in the United States Department of Justice (USDOJ), National Security Division (NSD), Office of Intelligence (OI), Oversight Section. The mission of the National Security Division (NSD) is to coordinate the Department's efforts in carrying out its core mission of combating terrorism and protecting national security.

As a Legal Administrative Specialist you will perform duties such as but not limited to: Providing administrative and substantive support to attorneys related to sensitive national security, security intelligence, and/or counterintelligence. Conducting various tasks in support of the mission of the Oversight Section, which will include tracking pending compliance matters, monitoring court deadlines, and preparing compliance reports for the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court and Congress. Coordinating and supporting the office's work with external agencies Applying, and adapting concepts, methods, and procedures to carry out project development and documentation activities. Coordinating with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely record keeping.

Requirements

  • You must be a United States Citizen or National.
  • You will be required to complete a pre-employment security investigation and background check which includes a drug screening.
  • You may be required to complete a one-year probationary or two-year trial period.
  • Selective Service registration is required for males born on, or after, December 31st 1959. Those not registered should have an approved exemption on file.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position of Legal Administrative Specialist at (GS-0901-12), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade you're applying to. If you are a current or former government employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade. Additionally, please ensure to submit an applicable SF50 (please refer to the "required documents" section for additional information). You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess: At least one year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service performing legal research utilizing various sources such as databases and case management systems and providing legal reports to stakeholders. You MUST meet all qualification requirements, including Time-in-Grade, by the closing date of this announcement, 12/21/2023.
