About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the 7th Signal Command, 106th Signal Brigade - Fort Cavazos, TX

Duties

Review, analyze, change, document, and update the hardware and software system configurations. Analyze and highlight trends on the report and recommend actions that should be initiated to improve system availability, reliability, and serviceability. Maintain and monitor the long-haul data and local/long-haul voice communications network operations. Analyze of communications requirements to identify necessary components and software support and ensure adequate network capacity to support required processing. Manage, maintain, and administer the database that controls which users have access to specific system features and remote sites. Manage the system maintenance processes for system site checks, installation, repair, and preventive maintenance required. Ensure interoperability, integration, and interface requirements are met and conflicts are resolved. Develop methods and criteria consistent with radio telecommunications and related IT network systems to resolve complex problems.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
• The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET clearance with T5 Investigation.
• Drug testing required
• A pre-employment physical is required.
• In performing above duties, overtime and shift work may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays, and weekends in support of related mission requirements. May be on call 24 hours.
• Work may require travel away from the normal duty station on an infrequent basis up to 10% of the time.
• Required to possess a valid state driver's license to operate government owned vehicles (GOV) for official use.

Specialized experience would be demonstrated by analyzing and recommending actions to improve system availability, reliability, and serviceability to Installation's Radio Trunk System; Analyzing and/or maintaining systems data, logging, and status of devices to determine type of malfunctions; Assisting in the development, configuration, installation and maintenance of networking devices; and Managing the network administration of Trunked Radio and Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems including but not limited to: System configuration; system and LMR inventory; subscriber database management; network configuration management; system maintenance supervision; and vendor and supplier coordination. The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined: (1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: completing work independently that rarely requires editing or review by others. OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, three full years of graduate education from an accredited or pre-accredited institution that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks.
