You will serve as an IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) in the Information Resources Department of Commander Undersea Surveillance.

Duties

You will ensure the rigorous application of information security and information assurance policies, principles and practices in the delivery of IT services. You will be responsible for ensuring that users comply with INFOSEC program requirements and procedures. You will assist the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) in making cybersecurity a focal point for all organizational information systems security concerns across multiple networks. You will assist the ISSM in the development, review, endorsement, and maintenance of cyber security Risk Management Framework (RMF) system accreditation. You will develop system security contingency plans, disaster recovery procedures, and continuity of operational plans. You will maintain a risk management program to identify, assess, and mitigate risk to include responding to Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain (within six months of appointment) and maintain a current Information Assurance certifications as required for IAT Level I IAW DOD 8570.1M.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 90 level 2 within 12 months of appointment.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Employing cyber security principles and practices to manage (for example., plan, implement, coordinate, monitor) information technology (IT) security defense strategies designed to protect command's IT infrastructure; or applying systems security certification and accreditation requirements and processes to identify vulnerabilities, risks, and protection needs for networks, systems, and platforms of an organization. Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving.
