This position is located at the Loch Raven VA Medical Center (Baltimore Maryland) with the Department of Veterans affairs. The incumbent serves as an Electrical/Electronics and Maintenance Supervisor. The incumbent has the overall responsibilities to ensure that Electric and Electronic Shop personnel accomplish their mission through his/her action and supervision; he/she will work under and report to the Maintenance and Operations Supervisor.
Duties
Major Duties May Inlcude:
The incumbent will be a current Master Electrician and supervise skilled and licensed Electricians/Electronics Technicians, and other laborers in the installation, alteration, maintenance and repair of electrical/electronic wiring systems and equipment used in communications, lighting and power. These systems include, but are not limited to, up to 480 voltage switch gear, transformers, transmission buses for low voltage distribution, secondary sub-panels, alarm and signal circuits, elevators, and (six) Standby Level 1 Emergency generators. Systems are installed, altered, and maintained according to specifications in the National and State Electrical Codes and National Electrical Safety Code.
The incumbent is responsible for ensuring an open line of communication with all employees, Union Representatives, Management, and other Service Management personnel to keep effective communication roles.
Installs, repairs maintains, tests, and inspects electrical equipment and appliances such as but not limited to: HVAC Equipment, Variable Frequency Drives, washers, dryers, disposals, dishwashers, water heaters and other electric, motor-driven equipment so that they are in safe and economical operating condition. All emergency repairs are quickly completed by installing the equipment according to the manufacturer's specifications and the Underwriter's rules for electrical installation. This is accomplished by testing electrical circuits; by replacing burned out elements in heating equipment; by repairing or replacing electric motors; by implementing preventive maintenance programs; and by following safety standards and procedures to prevent injuries.
Maintains hand and power tools to ensure their safe, efficient use for current and future electrical projects by inspecting their physical condition, repairing or replacing worn or broken parts on power equipment, and by ensuring an adequate supply of high use repair parts for immediate repair of equipment.
The maintenance and operations supervisor works independently with general guidance and direction from the Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor.
The incumbent will meet the needs of all customers while supporting VA personnel in the pursuit of maintaining the missions that have been established for the integrated health care services. Consistently communicates with, and treats both internal (sections, divisions, other Directorates, etc.) and external (veterans, their representatives, visitors, VA staff, etc.) customers, in a courteous, tactful, prompt and respectful manner. Provide the customer with consistent information according to established policies and procedures. Handles conflicts and problems associated with customers constructively and appropriately.
Incumbent supervises all staff within the Architectural Maintenance and Electrical shops at Loch Raven to accomplish the work of the joint commission accreditation, regulatory compliance, and infrastructure maintenance. Position is responsible for maintaining over 700,000 square feet of building infrastructure and grounds.
