Duties

Serving as a Chief Training Resource Coordination Division GS-0301-15 makes you a valuable member of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) team and mission. This position is located in the Training Resources Coordination Division within the Training Management Operations Directorate and under the Office of the Associate Director for Training Operations (TOPS) within the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) and located in Glynco, Georgia. The position serves as the Division Chief of the Training Resource Coordination Division (TRC). The position is the authoritative advisor/consultant to the Deputy Assistant Director, regarding training resource coordination. Typical assignments include: - Coordinating the required management training resources to conduct all confirmed and/or projected law enforcement training programs from basic or recruit, through advanced, specialized or senior technical, to supervisory and managerial. - Evaluating planning and allocation aspects of established and proposed training programs. - Directing the review and evaluation of staff project assignments for completeness, accuracy, and compliance which consists of the development, analysis, evaluation of training schedules, training projections, resource allocations and other requests. - Exercising the full range of supervisory and personnel management authorities and responsibilities in directing work of the division through branch first level supervisors. - Planning and assigning work, setting and adjusting priorities as necessary, developing performance standards and appraises work, and providing advice, counseling and guidance to subordinates. - Managing a division budget, staffing plans, and makes necessary modifications in order to integrate and accommodate the needs and requirements of the agency.

  • Current and former federal employees within the General Schedule (GS) must meet the time-in-grade requirements outlined in the "Qualifications" section of this announcement.
  • Non-BU: This is a non-bargaining unit position.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Overtime may be required.
  • Weekends and federal holidays may be required.
  • This position is designated as Emergency Essential. You will be required to sustain FLETC operations in the event of a localized situation, such as inclement weather, interruptions to power, or dismissal or closure of DHS operations or services.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to conduct official government business.
  • You will need to set up direct deposit so we can pay you.
  • This position is eligible for situational-only telework based on agency policy.
  • You will be required to complete an OGE 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, within 30 days of starting your federal employment and annually thereafter as long as you occupy a position that requires financial disclosure reporting.
  • New supervisors/managers must successfully complete a 1-year probationary period.
  • This position requires you to have access, safeguard, and store classified national security information on a regular basis. You must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Specialized Experience: You qualify for the GS-15 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal government, performing duties such as: 1) Allocating resources (personnel, fiscal, and material) in order to meet short and long range law enforcement training program goals; 2) Analyzing law enforcement training programs in order to identify areas for improvement and recommend solutions; 3) Developing short and long range law enforcement training plans in order to meet departmental training needs; and 4) Performing the full range of supervisory duties (i.e. assigning work to subordinates, executing personnel actions, completing performance reviews, resolving grievances, etc.). Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level. All qualifications and eligibility requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Time-in-grade: Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees, and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks, must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade, or a combination of the next lower grade level and an equivalent band in the federal service by the closing of this announcement. Note: Current or former Federal employees MUST submit a copy of their SF-50 Form which shows competitive service appointment ("position occupied" block 34 on the SF-50 should show a "1"), tenure group (block 24 should show a 1 or 2), grade, and salary. If you are applying for a higher grade, please provide the SF-50 Form which shows the length of time you have been in your current/highest grade (examples of appropriate SF-50s include promotions, With-in Grade/Range Increases, and SF-50s dated a year apart within the same grade/job).
