About the Position: This position will serve as a Training Instructor (SHORAD) with the 30th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, Fires Center of Excellence located at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. The incumbent of this position will conduct training on subjects in one or more courses covering the components of the Short Range Air Defense (SHORAD) systems, Maneuver-Short Range Air Defense systems (Maneuver-SHORAD), Man-Portable Air Defense System (MANPADS), and Forward Area Air Defense (FAAD) systems.

Duties

Instructs on the operation, function, troubleshoot procedures, checks and adjustments, and maintenance of SHORAD systems, Maneuver-SHORAD, MANPADS, and FAAD systems. Performs instruction for the 14P MOS and derivative FMS courses following the approved programs of instruction (POI). Prepares and reviews materials required for instruction/facilitation of SHORAD systems, Maneuver-SHORAD, MANPADS, and FAAD systems.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Incumbent may be required to work an irregular tour of duty.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction which includes the following: Update training materials for Short Range Air Defense (SHORAD) systems, Maneuver-Short Range Air Defense systems (Maneuver-SHORAD), Man-Portable Air Defense System (MANPADS) and Forward Area Air Defense (FAADS) systems; Prepare training schedules for input into training database; Maintain training data to include course purpose, scope and prerequisites for SHORAD systems, Maneuver-SHORAD, MANPADS and (FAADS) systems; Apply working knowledge of SHORAD systems, Maneuver-SHORAD, MANPADS and (FAADS) systems to recommend modifications to course and/or course content based on changes in subject matter or equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled. (You MUST submit a copy of your transcript with your application package.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education / Training Program AdministrationManages and Organizes InformationOral Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
