About the Position: Serves as training instructor and participates in course development. Responsible for both pre-instructional and instructional actions including overall maintenance and improvement of assigned course areas of wheel vehicle maintenance and repair. Applies a variety of instructional techniques including lecture, seminar, conference and group discussion, programmed instruction, self-paced instruction, and multimedia instruction.

Duties

Teaches troubleshooting and repair of electrical, hydraulic, drive trains and cooling systems. Teaches theory of automotive systems and how to read and apply schematics. Perform maintenance and repair instruction using Army Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals. Provides instruction using lesson plans, training equipment and training aids. Provides classroom and hands-on maintenance and repair instruction on Army equipment.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled, such as, Logistics, Adult Learning and Leadership, Education. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Automotive and Wheeled Vehicle Operation and MaintenanceInstructional Delivery and Learner DevelopmentInstructional Environment ManagementOral Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
