Duties

As a PHYSICAL SECURITY SPECIALIST you will be responsible for the following duties: - Subject matter expert and technical advisor to the DCSA Special Security Office (SSO) on all matters pertaining to Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIF) physical security requirements and SCIF accreditations concerned with the protection of DCSA personnel, SCIFs and classified national security information (CNSI) nationwide. - Conducts independent studies, surveys, inspections and periodic reviews to measure compliance with existing policies and procedures and the adequacy of measures intended to reduce or minimize susceptibilities and vulnerabilities. - Advises senior leadership on security measures for new SCIFs, structures and storage areas and conducts inspections during pre-construction, construction, remodeling and post construction phases to ensure compliance with requirements and guidelines. - Senior subject matter expert on evolving technologies, new developments, and advances in physical security applications and techniques to continuously evaluate and recommend enhancements or upgrades to installed security systems through modification and or application of new techniques and methods. - Develops measures and requirements by reviewing available threat information, identifies and advises of regulatory requirement shortfalls, determines appropriate corrective measures, and implements such.

  • Employee must obtain and maintain the ATFP Level 2 Certification within 2 years of placement in this position
  • Employee must obtain and maintain Physical Security Certification (PSC) within 2 years of placement in this position.

Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have specialized experience sufficient to demonstrate that you have acquired all the competencies necessary to perform at a level equivalent in difficulty, responsibility, and complexity to the next lower grade GS/GG 12 in the Federal service and are prepared to take on greater responsibility. Generally, this would include one year or more of such specialized experience. Specialized experience for this position includes: Demonstrated experience associated with the application of prevailing DoD and IC guidance governing the administration of a Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Security Program Experience conducting or overseeing day-to-day administration of physical security programs as they relate to an SCI cleared community and/or Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) Specifically you will be evaluated on the following competencies: . Physical Security - Applies requirements for designing, accrediting, equipping, and securing government and contractor facilities to guard against unauthorized access. Develops and enforces electronic security regulations and procedures. Physical Security - Knowledge and practices associated with facilities, personnel and operational security. Ability to develop, implement, and manage processes and programs involving facility security, emergency preparedness and fire prevention measures to ensure security. Physical Security - Apply requirements for addressing the general physical protection of personnel, installations, facilities, information, operations, and related assets.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
