Duties
You will diagnose malfunctions in electrical circuits on power distribution equipment.
You will check and adjust electrical generation to meet varying loads.
You will monitor data from wattmeter’s, voltmeters, and ammeters of feeders to ensure equipment is operating correctly.
You will adjust controls to regulate the flow of electric power.
You will operate a central switchboard to actuate remotely controlled circuit breakers, transformers, and switches to regulate and maintain correct voltage on distribution lines.
You will be considered "operator in charge" and must possess thorough knowledge of entire electric power controlling system to locate problems and initiate corrective measures to maintain adequate power distribution..
You will perform preventative maintenance on high and low voltage switch gears, transformers, circuit breakers, and associated equipment.

- NAVFAC MIDLANT is a regionalized command. The incumbent serving in this position may at any time be reassigned to a similar position at any site or workstation within the commuting area as a condition of employment.
- This position requires rotating shift work.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION performing the following: 1) Distributing and controlling electrical distribution systems; 2) Operating switchboards to remotely control circuit breakers, transformers and switches in order to regulate and maintain proper voltage on the distribution lines; and 3) Interpreting operating instructions and distribution equipment operating criteria to determine when to adjust the taps on an transformer in order to maintain voltage on the feeder. **NOTE** This information must be clearly supported in your resume.
