This position is located at Office of the Inspector General for Tax Admin,Office of Investigations- Deputy Inspector General for Investigations. As an Investigative Analyst, you will perform work involving the research, analysis, and/or evaluation of information to assist investigators in ongoing investigations.
Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
- Analyze information to develop profile data on the activities, trends, developments, and procedures.
- Maintain knowledge of Federal laws and regulations relevant to the work being performed.
- Participate in intelligence collection programs and procedures, plans, and develops computerized intelligence databases, and recommends modifications to existing systems.
- Participate in the development and effective use of techniques and procedures to be utilized by TIGTA with the ultimate objective of producing and disseminating investigative/intelligence reports to assist in investigations conducted by law enforcement personnel within TIGTA.
- Perform analytic tasks of a high level of difficulty. Applies a comprehensive knowledge of all available automated data retrieval systems to locate, sort and evaluate information.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized experience for the GS-11 is one year at the level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service, which has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the positions. Specialized experience includes:
- Performing criminal and administrative misconduct investigative support involving law enforcement officers, and employees of all levels, including senior managers; AND
- Utilizing various investigative techniques to establish interrelationships of facts or evidence.
OR
You may possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LLM. Only graduate level education in excess of the first two years 36 semester hours (54-quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.
OR
You may qualify on a combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent.
Specialized experience for the GS-09 is one year at the level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service, which has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the positions. Specialized experience includes:
-Applying investigative procedures and techniques in order to analyze and research information, AND
-Determine what information is required to implement investigations.
OR
Masters or equivalent graduate degree OR two (2) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. Attach a copy of transcript or list of college courses designating semester or quarter hours earned to ensure proper credit.
OR
You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. This is creditable providing the combination consists of 100% of the requirement. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 18 semester hours (27 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education. (Attach copy of transcript or list of college courses designating semester or quarter hours earned to ensure proper credit.)
Specialized experience for the GS-07 is one year at the level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service, which has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the positions. Specialized experience includes:
- Applying investigative procedures and techniques in order to analyze and research information;
AND
- Determine what information is required to implement investigations.
OR
Education: One full year of graduate level education in a related field; or Superior Academic Achievement based on a bachelor's degree that is demonstrated through class standing (upper 1/3 of class); or grade point average (2.95/4.0 overall or 3.5/4.0 in major), or election to membership in a qualifying national scholastic honor society. (Attach copy of transcript or list of college courses designating semester or quarter hours earned to ensure proper credit.)
OR
A combination of education and experience. Combining education and experience may be computed by first determining the total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining your education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level.
Education
Education Requirements: The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. If you are qualifying based on foreign education, you must submit proof of creditability of education as evaluated by a credentialing agency. Refer to the
