Duties

You will receive, verify, unload and process incoming general and specialized shipments from a variety of sources. You will use Automated Data Processing Systems (ADPS) to update records and files. You will operate forklifts, and other Material Handling Equipment. You will read and prepare documentation used to move, store, and track materials. You will receive, issue, handle, prepare for shipment, segregate, store/stow, inventory, and document the movement and storage of supplies, equipment and materials.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
  • You must be willing to obtain and maintain a government license for all assigned equipment, including forklifts.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You will be required to carry items up to 70 lbs.
  • You must be able to obtain and maintain a government vehicle operator permit.

Qualifications

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: I have the ability to perform the work of a WG-6907-05 Materials Handler as demonstrated by experience working under close supervision receiving, issuing, handling, preparing for shipment, segregating, storing, stowing, inventorying, and documenting the movement and storage of supplies, equipment and materials, in accordance with prescribed regulations; reading shipping documents; operating automated equipment such as optical readers, scanners, computer terminals, and barcode wands to process material; inspecting and processing incoming general shipments for accuracy and damage; identifying damage to materials; following prescribed guidelines for the proper handling and storage procedures; operating material handling equipment (e.g. pallet jacks, side loaders, and trucks) to relocate, arrange, stack and palletize items; operating forklifts.
