As a supervisor/manager, the selectee for this position will be eligible to receive a Manager Performance Incentive (MPI) provided eligibility requirements noted in agency policy are met. The MPI is an annual lump-sum incentive payment that considers agency performance, the manager's individual performance, and available funding.The incumbent of this position directs the work of subordinate managers and employees for the Quality Control Group within the Air Traffic Organization, CSC Center.

Duties

Work activities impact directly on goals and objectives of the major subdivision, the LOB/SO, and often the FAA. Work frequently affects the internal and external customers of the major subdivision, and often the LOB/SO and the FAA accident and incident information gathering and reporting, and safety initiatives to ATO Service Units and other FAA organizations to align with and support FAA safety objectives. Conducts technical evaluations for both Federal and non-Federal facilities and equipment with the Service Area identifying relevant trends in runway safety and Flight Plan safety goals. Serves as the central point of contact for all quality assurance initiatives identifying level of performance and effectiveness for the Service Area. Provides oversight and implementation guidance to all ATO facilities in implementing assigned initiatives. Keeps Service Director apprised on the status of all investigations. Provides technical oversight for facilities for accident and incident reporting, delivers information as required for litigation support, and executes operational management evaluations for facilities within the Service Area.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must submit an SF50 (See Required Documents)
  • Designated or Random Drug Testing required.
  • Security Requirement: Non-Critical Sensitive (2). This position requires completion and favorable adjudication of a background investigation prior to appointment, unless a waiver is obtained. Subject to a 5 year period reinvestigation.
  • A one-year supervisor/managerial probationary period may be required.
  • Temporary NTE 2 years (can be terminated, extended or made permanent without further competition).

Qualifications

To qualify for this position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, FV-K (FG/GS-15) that is typically in, or directly related to, the line of work of the position to be filled and that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been at least equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.Specialized experience includes: experience as a second level or higher manager overseeing and evaluating the work of operational Air Traffic Services or Technical Operations personnel.
