This position is located in the Whiteriver Indian Health Service Emergency Departmen in Whiteriver, Arizona. Incumbent will perform basic patient care services and specific technical tasks and skills that provide for emergent and urgent care, safety and comfort of patients. The incumbent will be supervised by the Supervisory of Clinical Nurse, Emergency Department.
Duties
Receive and carry out instructions promptly, accurately and precisely in regards to patient care and unit operations. All patient care activities will be delegate and supervised by the Registered Nurse.
Provide comfort measures for patients, transport/move patients, observe and document patient's condition, collect and deliver specimen and measure blood glucose using finger stick and glucometer.
Apply orthopedic soft goods and splints for treatment of various orthopedic injuries.
Assist Registered Nurse at Triage by obtaining vitals signs, complaints, apply sterile dressing, and when necessary secures electrodes on patient's chest attached to ECG monitor correctly and perform twelve lead Electrocardiogram (EKG).
Perform venipuncture for blood draws, within the HT's scope of practice.
Assist with the extrication of unconscious or trauma patients that have been transported to this facility in privately owned vehicles, using correct emergency extrication and stabilization methods.
In emergencies, will initiate and perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)C or retrieve medical equipment necessary for the resuscitation of patients in cardiopulmonary arrest situations.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-0640-5
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks :Examples :Include: Under supervision, provide comfort measures for patients to include but not limited to, provision of blankets, hot/cold packs, pillows etc.; assist with transport, ambulate, move and lift of patients; Observe and assist with documentation of a patient's condition and report changes to the RN; Assist with collection of specimens, processed appropriately and delivered to lab; Assist in positioning patient for procedures, i.e., suturing, Lumbar Puncture (LP), pelvic exams, etc.
