You will serve as a Electrician in the Production Resources Department of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will repair and test electrical rotating equipment and associated controls. You will manufacture, fabricate, troubleshoot, repair, test or alter switchboards, controllers, regulators, circuits breakers, panels, switches, transformers, etc., both in shops and on vessels. You will install electronic equipment and systems such as sonar, radio, radar, navigation and fire control. You will install, charge, maintain, and repair submarine batteries and associated bussing and equipment. You will read and properly interpret blueprints, technical manuals, work instructions, and other sources of job-related information. You will insure the proper installation and safe operation of systems, circuits, and equipment. You will plan and lay out, route and arrange systems, circuits, equipment, and controls in order to accomplish the work in a timely, efficient, and safe manner. You will prepare material or condition reports, shipping and material ordering reports, recommendations and sketches for design action, and similar types of documents.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • Work is performed in shops and aboard ships and submarines.
  • Must be able to climb vertical ladders and be able to distinguish basic colors and shades of colors.
  • Must be able to lift or carry sixty (60) pounds and occasionally over sixty pounds.
  • Work conditions may include stooping, climbing, working in confined spaces, tanks and void, and in uncomfortable and cramped positions.
