Duties

Serve as a Lead Financial Specialist providing coaching and leadership to an assigned team. Leads the team in identifying, distributing, and balancing workload and tasks among employees performing a variety of financial management related duties. Reviews and analyzes financial metrics and reports identifying problems and discrepancies and determines if adjustments or corrections are required. Prepares recurring reports, statements, and supporting justifications by performing problem analysis, ensuring data integrity and financial management consistency. Provides advice, assistance and leadership to other financial specialists and/or analysts as required. Plans organizational operations or the efficient use of funds; and/or the way financial management initiatives, programs and systems are structured and operated throughout the organization.

• Suitable for Federal employment
• Time after Competitive Appointment: Candidates must have served 3 months after latest competitive appointment in the Federal service.
• This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
• Time-in-Grade Requirement: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-12 or higher grade in Federal Service.
• Obtain/Maintain Financial Management Certification

Qualifications

One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-12) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as: Performing extensive data analysis and evaluation of financial systems, policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure the continuity of a financial organization's business operations; compiling financial data from various sources and ensuring their accuracy as it pertains to financial legislation and operational policies and procedures; providing substantial financial management knowledge to leadership in order to assist with the organization's core mission. You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.
