Duties

Serves as a Contingency Operations and Legislative Support Specialist for the Defense Finance and Accounting Service mission areas. Assists in creating finance and accounting continuity strategies utilizing commercial off-the-shelf business continuity planning software. Ensures all applicable mission/functional areas have continuity plans in place to provide essential financial and accounting functions as required by the assigned mission. Completes detailed feasibility and capability studies to assess DFAS Operations’ business resiliency. Monitors for, and assesses natural and man-made disasters. Develops and maintains the DFAS Operations Disaster Support Plan.

• Please note, this is NOT a 100% virtual/remote position where work may be performed from any location in the US. This position is eligible for local telework near the duty station of the position, subject to management review and approval.

Qualifications

One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-12) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized Experience Defined As: Performing expert analysis and evaluation of financial management procedures, policies, and regulations and serve as a staff expert and advisor to senior management; analyzing the most complex situations and/or conditions to identify deficiencies and provide corrective actions in financial policies, procedures, operations or systems; recommend and implement improvements to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of internal controls programs across financial operations. Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-12 or higher grade in Federal Service. You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.
