You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (MECHANICAL) in the PRODUCTION DIVISION, U & E BRANCH of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.

Duties

You will provide provide technician support to the various mechanical distribution systems providing services to the customers within the PWD Newport region. You will perform visual and predictive maintenance inspections of utility facilities, distribution, and equipment using thermography, infra-red and dyes You will maintain up to date and accurate mechanical utility system line/valve diagrams, schematic diagrams, and interconnection diagrams. You will will assist Utilities and Energy Management (UEM) engineers on the regional major maintenance program.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Reading and understanding engineering drawings, sketches, specifications, material lists, and job/task orders; 2) Utilizing engineering principals, concepts and theory as applied to mechanical utility systems; 3) Utilizing engineering graphics, computer aided design (CAD), and geographic information systems (GIS) and Microsoft Office software including Access, Excel, Word. Knowledge of MAXIMO; 4) Identifying projects, collecting data, determining scopes of work, developing cost estimates, reviewing plans and specifications, monitoring construction progress, performing construction quality control inspections and recommending construction changes; 5) Determining required Standard operating Procedures (SOPs), developing new SOPs, reviewing SOPs on a periodic basis, revising/modifying existing SOPs, and monitoring adherence to SOPs.
