Duties

You will provide technical oversight and support, acting as the laboratory technician for all NUWCDIVNPT, Building 1246 Submarine Launcher Facility Complex. You will provide operational, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair efforts across all Laboratory Complex facilities. You will act as a senior Category II crane operator, potentially acting as the lead overseeing the operation, training, and certification of all Category I operators associated with the launcher system facilities. You will provide knowledge in Payload Integration, torpedo tubes, ejection pumps etc. You will function as a SUBSAFE Quality Assurance Inspector (QAI) for repair efforts executed at NUWCDIVNPT Code 45. You will provide technical assistance and acts as a NUWCDIVNPT representative at Fleet Submarine Shipyards, Naval Bases and Training Commands in the troubleshooting and repair of systems casualties. You will provide team development, mentoring, and management responsibilities during tasking related to Laboratory testing, troubleshooting and/or facility maintenance. You will prepare and reviews reports, procedures and documentation on assigned projects. You will train, mentor, and help develop civilian as well as uniformed ashore/afloat force personnel in the capabilities, capacity, troubleshooting and repair in WLHS and internal payload handling systems.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-3 pay band (GS-09/10 equivalency) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: applying technical principles in the design, development and maintenance of submarine weapon launcher and handling systems.
