Duties

You will assist in the coordination of tests, milestones, and trials requirements, to support the ship build as well as witnessing testing on board craft under construction. You will review, evaluate and resolve complex engineering issues prepared by the shipbuilder, contractor or the design agent to assure the Ship to Shore Connector (SSC) mechanical systems are installed and tested in accordance with the test plan. You will resolve system engineering, installation, testing and operational issues and support special event testing to proof system functionality and to resolve unique problems. You will resolve deficiencies or provide expert recommendations to the Test Director to assist in resolution. You will provide waterfront support to the various project office in the resolution of engineering and testing problems. You will conduct and/or witness testing as requested by other SUPSHIP Departments or Naval activities. You will review design drawings, shipboard system diagrams, vendor drawings, calculations, test procedures/reports, technical manuals, and purchase technical documents to ensure compliance and completeness of documentation. You will assist the Test Director during Builder’s Trial (BT) and Acceptance Trials (AT) to provide overall coordination and management of the trials. You will help to develop and maintain a Test/Trial/Delivery Sequential Events Schedule and execute it for BT,AT and Delivery of the ship.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to perform occasional sea duty.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-11 or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing technical engineering support in the execution of test or trial procedures, requirements, or functions of shipboard systems for a shipbuilding program.
