This position is located at Departmental Offices,Management CFO-Treasury Operations. As a Visual Information Specialist, you will be responsible for designing and producing original graphic material for use in high-level conferences, briefings, hearings, and Departmental Offices documents and publications.
Duties

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-12. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
Design and produce original graphic material, develops new concepts, and incorporates current social trends or style standards.
Apply knowledge of clients' work to interpret abstract and novel subject matter content provided with assignments to produce visual products that accurately and effectively convey such information.
Meet with executives and other professionals to present design concepts and techniques for use in high-level conferences, briefings, hearings, and Departmental Offices and client agency documents and publications.
Consult with and provide assistance to managers, instructors, and functional employees related to the presentation of information through visual media within a host site.
Demonstrate how published products in print and other media can be used to optimize quality or enhance communications to multiple market segments and affected stakeholders.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-11, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
Experience in designing, developing, and producing communication products including but not limited to publications, marketing materials, and web sites which incorporate photographs, illustrations, drawings, artwork, charts, diagrams, maps, and other kinds of visual material for use in communicating information through visual means; AND
Experience in managing the creation, deployment, and maintenance of an enterprise-wide organizational brand throughout its publications, website, and other communication products; AND
Experience in traditional graphic design techniques (use of line, color, shape, texture, form) and the application of design thinking (design-specific cognitive activities, methods, and processes that create innovative, human-centered results) to produce effective print- and web-based communications.
OR
Education: You may qualify for this position based on education; qualifying education includes a PH. D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to such a degree, or an LL. M. if related. Major study -- commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position. Advanced training in a vocational school, technical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of the fields listed above is creditable as general experience on a month-for-month basis.
OR
You may qualify on a combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 36 semester hours (54 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education. (Major study -- commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position.)Education: You may qualify for this position based on education; qualifying education includes a PH. D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to such a degree, or an LL. M. if related. Experience in designing and producing communication products; for example, publications, marketing materials, and web sites which incorporate photographs, illustrations, drawings, artwork, charts, diagrams, maps, and/or other kinds of visual material for use in communicating information through visual means; AND
Experience in the use of traditional graphic design techniques (use of line, color, shape, texture, form) and the application of design thinking (design-specific cognitive activities, methods, and processes that create innovative, human-centered results) to produce print- and web-based communications; AND
Experience with some graphic design software (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), hardware (desktop computers).
OR
You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: Master's or equivalent graduate degree, if related. Major study -- commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position. Advanced training in a vocational school, technical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of the fields listed above is creditable as general experience on a month-for-month basis;
OR
2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, if related; or LL.B. or J.D., if related. Major study -- commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position. Advanced training in a vocational school, technical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of the fields listed above is creditable as general experience on a month-for-month basis;
OR
You may qualify by a combination of successfully completed graduate level education and specialized experience. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 18 semester hours may be combined with experience.
