You will serve as a LEAD COMMAND PAY AND PERSONNEL ADMINISTRATOR for the SURFACE WARFARE ENGINEERING SCHOOL COMMAND at the SURFACE WARFARE SCHOOL COMMAND.

Duties

You will have the ability to analyze and evaluate information, interpret guidance and draw conclusions based on data obtained. You will have knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation to type in final form written materials. You will have knowledge of clerical procedures and forms used in the organization. You will have basic knowledge of subject matter of materials to be filed and office filing system is expected. You will have the ability to gather and assess the accuracy of data used in a wide variety of student support actions. You will have knowledge of desktop computer application software, such as word processing, spreadsheets, graphics and database software.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You may be required to be available after hours for surge or during holiday stand down period.
  • You will occasionally be required to receive job related training or assist during audits.
  • You will be expected to serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), performing all tasks with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Utilizing computer software programs and/or office automation applications (i.e., Microsoft Office, Access, and Excel) to manage information and produce correspondence, reports, graphs and charts; 2) Reviewing correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other documents to ensure proper grammar, spelling, format and attachments; 3) Interpreting an organization's policies and procedures to provide administrative support to staff and students; 4) Using an automated system to manage various administrative support tasks (e.g. payroll, travel requests, and/or personnel actions); and 5) Implementing entry and exit processing for staff and students during transfers.
