You will serve as a SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in the SAFETY DIVISION of COMMANDER U.S., MARINE FORCES COMMAND (MARFORCOM) NORFOLK, VA.

Duties

You will manage the radiation safety or occupational health program elements. You will develop and recommend safety policy to higher levels of management. You will apply knowledge of radiation safety to determine compliance with established policies and regulations to advise leaders. You will develop safety or occupational health standards, regulations, practices, and procedures to eliminate or control potential hazards. You will develop or implement programs to reduce the frequency, severity, and cost of accidents and occupational illnesses. You will inspect or survey workplaces, processes, products, or other systems for compliance with established safety or occupational health policies or standards and to identify potential new hazards. You will train other workers, supervisors, managers, or other safety and occupational health personnel in radiation safety or occupational health subjects.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Developing, organizing, planning, administering and evaluating a comprehensive occupational safety and health program, and ensuring compliance with safety and occupational health regulatory guidance.
