This position is with the Pharmacy Service at the VA Illiana Health Care System, Danville, IL which is responsible for the provision of medications, and medication related services across all phases including outpatient, inpatient and clinical arenas. Pharmacy is one of the larger services on the Danville campus including all of our clinics. This position provides administrative support to Pharmacy Service under the general supervision of the Administrative Officer and the Chief of Pharmacy.
Duties
Major duties and responsibilities include:
Performing a variety of administrative and support type duties in such areas as administration, records and files management, travel, and reports.
Scheduling appointments, coordinating meetings, and/or scheduling conferences. Providing general clerical services relative to calendar maintenance such as updating calendars and recording appointments and arranging for meeting.
Assisting the Pharmacy Department by collecting data, tracking required measures of performance, and running various office reports.
Acting as backup for travel requests, preparing travel requests and vouchers for travel.
Assisting in preparing procurements requests, evaluating proposals to work, writing sole source justifications, and maintain contracting records.
Composing, drafting, and editing correspondence. Reviewing documents for accuracy, spelling, and format assuring final submissions are error free, meet timelines, and appear professional.
Receiving visitors and telephone calls in a professional and confidential manner.
Directing patients, visitors, and callers to appropriate staff member based on specific request or by ascertaining the nature of the call.
Serving as primary timekeeper.
Performing other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:030AM to 4:00 PM

Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work, however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts; escorting patients and visitors throughout the medical center; directing staff to meeting areas. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, or libraries. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.

GS-06 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience for this position includes utilizing computer software such as Microsoft Office to compose, draft and edit correspondence; receiving visitors and phone calls in a processional matter; performing a variety of administrative duties such as records and file management, creating reports, scheduling appointments, coordinating meetings/conferences; performing timekeeping duties for a work unit. There is no educational substitution for the GS-06 level.
