Duties
The responsibilities will include design and construction of an experimental apparatus to conduct time-resolved emission microscopy of semiconductor integrated circuits. This apparatus will involve a microscope, spectrometer, cryostat, superconducting sensor array, and readout electronics. The responsibilities will also include using the apparatus to measure semiconductor integrated circuits-both those fabricated at NIST and those from advanced foundries, obtained through our industry partners. Finally, the responsibilities will include site visits to our industry partners to learn about their measurement needs, tailor our apparatus to their test environment, and to conduct measurements in conjunction with those partners. This employee will be part of a team and will not be expected to accomplish all these tasks alone.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
A. Degree: physics; or related degree that included at least 24 semester hours in physics.
OR
B. Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in physics totaling at least 24 semester hours, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
In either A or B above, the courses must have included a fundamental course in general physics and, in addition, courses in any two of the following: electricity and magnetism, heat, light, mechanics, modern physics, and sound.
In addition to the basic requirements:
Applicants must also have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 (ZP-I at NIST) level. Specialized Experience is defined as experience in measurements of superconducting electronic circuits, experience in cryogenics, experience in electronics, and experience in microscopy, faint-light measurements, and high-speed measurements.
