You will serve as a INTERDISCIPLINARY PHYSICAL SCIENTIST/OCEANOGRAPHER/ PHYSICIST in the Cooperative Engagement and Requirements Group within the Plans, Programs and Requirements Department of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS.

Duties

You will support all aspects of the requirements process, as well as Technology Transfer (T2), cooperative engagement, and facilitation at NAVOCEANO. You will review operational planning documents to ensure that plans are comprehensive, and address validated tasked requirements, as well as reflecting a continuum of requirements in priority order. You will provide survey operations and OHB requirements metrics and analysis to support larger department and command-level reports and database efforts. You will coordinate all international incoming and outgoing data exchange transactions for NAVOCEANO to include mail, email, and digital data exchange.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Mastery experience of the theories, principles, practices, and techniques of the physical sciences (i.e., oceanography, hydrography, physics or geophysics), with thorough knowledge of the ocean environment to evaluate and conceive NAVOCEANO programs with respect to requirements, and to serve as a technical expert and consultant to NAVOCEANO management. Experience with the requirements cycle and procedures within METOC and GI&S communities with an understanding of the evolving role of NAVOCEANO and COMNAVMETOCCOM in the requirements process. Mastery experience with various requirements tasked to NAVOCEANO, and the data necessary to fulfill those requirements, the end products, and the relative priority of the individual requirements. Oceanography Series 1360

Basic Requirements:

1. Degree: major study of at least 24 semester hours in oceanography or a related discipline such as physics, meteorology, geophysics, mathematics, chemistry, engineering, geology, or biology, plus 20 additional semester hours in any combination of oceanography, physics, geophysics, chemistry, mathematics, meteorology, computer science, and engineering sciences.

2. Combination of education and experience -- course work as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

Applicants who qualify on the basis of major study in biology or geology must have had at least 6 semester hours in the major directly concerned with marine science or 6 semester hours in oceanography; applicants who qualify on the basis of other physical sciences or engineering must have had differential and integral calculus and at least 6 semester hours in physics.
