You will serve as a CHIEF TRAINING FACILITY INSPECTOR in the Range and Operations Division of MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON.

Duties

You will be responsible for the direct supervision of 10 government service employees. You will be responsible for conducting combat readiness training; force protection activity training; military system research, development, testing and evaluations; and civilian law enforcement agency training activities. You will be responsible for all matters pertaining to MCB Camp Pendleton Special Use Airspace (SUA), airspace encroachment, air control procedures and mid air collision avoidance programs. You will be responsible for scheduling all customer training activities involving ranges, training areas, facilities, sea space and airspace. You will be responsible for the three-dimensional control and deconfliction of all training activities. You will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Marine Corps designated automated scheduling system known as Range Facility Management Support System (RFMSS). You will be responsible for management of local and Marine Corps wide contracts supporting contractor operation and maintenance of automated ranges and associated equipment. You will oversee all range safety matters and supervise range safety operations while executing range safety and training programs. You will advise and assist commanders and senior staff officers on all matters pertaining to the capabilities and limitations of the range training complex. You will inspect range activities as necessary to ensure compliance with policy established by this and higher headquarters. You will read and interpret regulations and directives pertaining to range operation and activities; and develop, prepare and revise local directives as required. You will review, evaluate, and monitor the effects of training on the environment.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • You will be required to POSSESS and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license. NOTE: Failure to provide a copy with this application will result in disqualification and you will not be referred to the hiring manager.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector implementing range safety policies for training facilities; and establishing criteria to measure and predict the effectiveness of the range raining complexes in providing adequate facilities. In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

or

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.M., if related

or

A combination of education and experience
