About the Position: Serves as the Operations Support Specialist (VTC) Video Teleconference Operator for the Operations Branch, G33, Operations, U.S. Army Medical Command (USAMEDCOM) and the Office of the Surgeon General (OTSG), located in Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

Duties

Responsible for providing both secure and non-secure video teleconferencing services within the USAMEDCOM Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to a variety of organizations and commands. Independently plans, schedules, coordinates, promotes, and conducts VTC conferences and administrative support under the general supervision of the Deputy Chief Current Operations Branch, G33 Operations Division, USAMEDCOM. Serves as the primary terminal operator for the Secret Internet Protocol Network (SIPRNET) for HQ, USAMEDCOM. Plans and conducts training classes as required to assure availability of backup or additional part-time VTC operators. Responsible for EOC access, password control, key control and security clearance validation prior to personnel entering or utilizing the SIPRNET area.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Temporary Duty (TDY) travel of 10% of the time.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Incumbent is subject to irregular duty hours especially in conjunction with contingency operations and exercises; requires 12-hour shift duties in the HQ USAMEDCOM EOC including nights, weekends, and holidays for up to 23 days without interruption.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing a variety of complex administrative, clerical, and office automation to support operation to include providing customer service to visitors, staff, and higher rank; analyzing information and data ensuring of programs, projects, and processes are met. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Management or Computer Science. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Attention to DetailManages and Organizes InformationOral Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
