You will serve as a Fire Desk Operator in the Marine Corps Installation Pacific ofMARINE CORPS BASE CAMP BLAZ . ***ACCESS TO MEDICAL AND DENTAL CARE IN JAPAN IS EXTREMELY LIMITED. Duties

You will Coordinates real-time use of the MCBCB RTA’s with the designated Federal Aviation Administration controlling agency as required, and other cognizant agencies in compliance with Marine Corps policies and procedures. You will manage and enforce the daily range schedule and coordinate real-time authorized use of all installation firing ranges, training facilities, maneuver areas and special use airspace. You will brief and inform senior military officers on Range and SUA procedure. You will advise and assist commanders and staff officers on matters pertaining to the Fire Desk operations, capabilities and limitations in Guam. You will coordinate emergency services and other supporting establishments for training units in the event of RTA accidents or mishaps.

  • This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States which could include remote or isolated sites. You may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • If eligible for permanent change of station, the appointee will be required to sign a transportation agreement to establish a Government time in service requirement of 12 months.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • May be required to obtain a VISA dependent on the overseas country's laws/regulations.
  • You will be required to sign the Statement of Understanding for Overseas Employment acknowledging receipt and understanding of the statement of living and working conditions for this location.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Temporary Additional Duty (TAD) may be required up to 5% annually.

Qualifications

GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Resolving in-flight conflicts within Special Use Airspace and providing procedural control and surveillance of military and civil air and ground training operations within Special Use Airspace (SUA) and Range Training Areas (RTA). GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Assisting with scheduling and monitoring range operations while providing procedural surveillance of military and civil air/ground training operations within Special Use Airspace and Range Training Areas. Education

Applicants may also qualify based on education OR a combination of education and experience, in lieu of the one year specialized experience listed above, through ONE of the following:

GS-11:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

or

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.M., if related

GS-09:

Master's or equivalent graduate degree

or

2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.B. or J.D., if related

Must have a combination of specialized experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience must equal 100 percent.
