You will serve as an EXECUTIVE STAFF ASSISTANT in the Office of the Chief of Staff (01C) of NCIS.
All Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) positions are in the excepted service. This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.

Duties
You will serve as program manager on a wide range of subjects and issues related to organizational practices and key leader engagements.
You will provide guidance to the administrative staff on administrative requirements.
You will plan, organize, and coordinate executive leadership events.
You will manage the Director's daily calendars and schedules for meetings, briefings, office calls with full autonomy using knowledge of the principal's priorities, responsibilities, and preferences.
You will edit and review work products and materials intended for the Director to ensure consistency, writing quality, and alignment with senior leader guidance priorities.
You will conduct studies of work processes and workload to identify impediments to meeting mission requirements and make recommendations to improve workflow and business-practice efficiency to enhance organizational effectiveness.
You will perform work related to developing and monitoring quality programs, plans, procedures, and methodologies; and/or analyzing quality initiatives and processes.
You will participate in strategic planning discussions and provides recommendations that will improve the administrative skills
and abilities of the Director’s staff.
You will as serve as alternate approving official within the Defense Travel System (DTS).
Requirements

- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position will require frequent travel up to 50% of the time from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Communicating and collaborating with Direct Report Offices to ensure development and submission of timely, accurate, and high-quality materials to support the Director's engagements;
Capturing outcomes from meetings, providing draft readouts, and preparing the way ahead and due outs for the Executive Assistants (EAs) and the Executive Assistant Directors (EADs);
Serving as internal consultant to management on specific quality improvement and organizational development projects such as aligning organizational processes and reinforcing new practices;
Providing guidance and mentoring to the administrative staff assigned to the Administrative Officer; AND
Managing Director's daily calendars and schedules for meetings, briefings, office calls with full autonomy using knowledge of the principal's priorities, responsibilities, and preferences.
