This position is located in the (Section Name). As the Government Information Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring proactive compliance with all statutory requirements of the Freedom of Information and Privacy Acts, including providing legal advice and counsel to the Office of the Assistant Attorney General (OAAG), OCC and Division management.
Duties
The incumbent will serve as a Government Information Specialist. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Conducts in-depth review, research and analysis of FOIA/PA requests.
Analyzes requests and responsive records/materials relative to CRT/DOJ policies and practices and applicable FOIA/PA laws, privileges and exemptions.
Drafts CRT/DOJ formal responses to FOIA/PA requests that are accurate, complete and tailored to the specific issues raised in the request with appropriate citations to applicable FOIA/PA laws and/or CRT/DOJ policies.
Provides timely, accurate and complete advice and guidance to FOIA/PA management, the Section Chiefs, managers and points of contacts within each of the Division.
Assists FOIA/PA attorneys in FOIA/PA requests that have resulted in federal court litigation, including preparing affidavits, exhibits and other supporting materials.
Utilizes FOIAXpress, Relativity, and other electronic databases and tools to process, track and monitor a high volume of FOIA/PA requests.

Specialized Experience Requirements
To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, candidates must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service or other pay system. This experience includes performing the following duties; 1) conducting reviews, research and analysis of FOIA/PA requests and responsive records/materials relative to applicable policies, practices and FOIA/PA laws with supervisory oversight; 2) utilizing FOIAXpress, Relativity or other electronic databases and tools to review records and process, track and monitor FOIA/PA requests ; and 3) assisting in providing guidance to internal and external customers and stakeholders, including attorneys, management and staff, requestors, and other federal agencies regarding FOIA/PA requests, searches, scope and applicable privileges and exemptions.
To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, candidates must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service or other pay system. This experience must include performing the following duties; 1) conducting reviews, research and analysis of FOIA/PA requests and responsive records/materials relative to applicable policies, practices and FOIA/PA laws, and proposing agency responses; 2) utilizing FOIAXpress, Relativity or other electronic databases and tools to review records and process, track and monitor FOIA/PA requests; 3) providing guidance to internal and external customers and stakeholders, including attorneys, management and staff, requestors, and other federal agencies regarding FOIA/PA requests, searches, scope and applicable privileges and exemptions; and 4) preparing written agency responses to FOIA/PA requests with analysis of applicable FOIA/PA laws, including relevant privileges and exemptions.

TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants applying for a grade higher than the grade you currently hold, must provide an SF-50, which shows type of service appointment, tenure group, grade, and salary. Your SF-50 Form must also show the length of time you have been in your current/highest grade (examples of appropriate SF-50s include Promotions, Within Grade/Range Increases, and SF-50s over one year old). No award SF-50s will be accepted. Current Civil Rights Division employees are not required to submit an SF-50.
