This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent will be responsible for the planning, and scheduling of worldwide Joint and Coalition training for the Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff (CJCS), regional Commanders (SOCOM; PACOM, EUCOM, CENTCOM. SOUTHCOM. NORTHCOM and AFRICOM) and the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD).

Duties

As a Operations Officer at the GS-0301-14 some of your typical work assignments may include Ensures that plans and programs are consistently implemented throughout. Assures timely and appropriate corrective actions to resolve identified program deficiencies and deviations. Reviews and ensures organizational structure, functional alignment, and staffing considerations are effective, efficient, and consistent with Joint Staff policies and procedures. Create / edit / update briefings and presentations as required by Joint Exercise Division Chief, and conduct the research and data collection required to create/edit/update those presentations in support of meetings, briefings, requests for information, or as required in support of routine and non-routine projects and processes. Maintains liaison with other Joint Staff activities, Directorates and Divisions. Appears before individuals, groups and committees and speaks for the Division, clarifying administrative matters, explaining views or explaining implications of pending problems and programs. Formulate budgets for submission to higher headquarters as required.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-14, if you fulfill the following qualifications: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service: Applies knowledge of military/civilian missions, processes and organizational relationships to evaluate and advise on all aspects of Joint Training methods, programs and exercises. Evaluates a joint training programs agency cost, schedule and performance parameters to formulate budgets for submission utilizing the Planning, Programming, Budgeting and Execution processes. Oversees the execution of contracting requirements, standards, and milestones for contracting support, development of comprehensive Performance Work Statements for program of work and conducting team evaluations from award through implementation of contract. Administers Program management to design and execute a Combatant Command training event and administrative management techniques to implement, manage and evaluate Joint Training and Exercises. Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
