This position is located in the Medical Supply and Services Section, Materials Management and Environmental Services Department (MMESD), Warren Magnuson Clinical Center (CC), National Institutes of Health (NIH). Responsibilities include: ensuring supply operations comply with supply policies and regulations; monitoring and maintaining adequate supplies to support an organization; processing and storing shipping materials; using online reporting systems to maintain and track inventory.

Duties

Distributing and balancing the workload among employees in accordance with established work flow or job specialization, assuring timely accomplishment of the assigned workload, and assuring that each employee has enough work to keep busy. Checking on work in progress or spot-checking work not requiring review and reviewing completed work to see that the supervisor's instruction on work sequence, procedures, methods and deadlines have been met. Providing direct stock and change management to units including patient care areas as well as to the research labs throughout the Clinical Center. Maintaining stock at primary and secondary inventory locations for all clinical and administrative areas. Utilizing computer systems to monitor, order and receive supplies. Monitoring expiration date and rotates stock in accordance with the FIFO (First in, First out) system in main inventory locations.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship requirement or proof of being a U.S. National must be met by closing date.
  • Employment is subject to the successful completion of the pre-appointment process (i.e., background investigation, verification of qualifications and job requirements, completion of onboarding forms, submission of required documents, etc.)
  • If selected, you must pass a pre-employment medical examination, provide evidence of immunization, and be free of communicable diseases.
  • Males born after December 31, 1959 must be registered with the Selective Service.
  • Applicants must meet all qualifications requirements within thirty (30) calendar days of the closing date of this announcement, including time in grade.
  • The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities.
  • The work environment involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, such as working around moving warehouse equipment, carts, or machines.
  • The incumbent may be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, gowns, safety shoes, goggles, hearing protection, and gloves.
  • This position has been designated as a Tier I "Emergency Employee" position.

Qualifications

You qualify at the GS-08 level, if you meet one of the following qualification requirements: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: ensuring supply operations comply with supply policies and regulations; monitoring and maintaining adequate supplies to support an organization; processing and storing shipping materials; using online reporting systems to maintain and track inventory; and communicating information related to supply to customers.
