This position is located in Materials Management and Environmental Services Department (MMESD), Warren Magnuson Clinical Center (CC), National Institutes of Health (NIH).
Duties
Providing direct stock and change management to units including patient care areas as well as to the research labs throughout the Clinical Center.
Inspecting expendable and reusable medical supplies, instruments, and equipment for damage.
Maintaining stock at primary and secondary inventory locations for all clinical and administrative areas.
Continuously reviewing stock levels, determining order quantities to fulfill customer demand and revising and maintaining shelf levels.
Scheduling and assisting in the conduct of physical inventory into the automated system.
Utilizing computer systems to monitor, order and receive supplies.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship requirement or proof of being a U.S. National must be met by closing date.
- Employment is subject to the successful completion of the pre-appointment process (i.e., background investigation, verification of qualifications and job requirements, completion of onboarding forms, submission of required documents, etc.)
- If selected, you must pass a pre-employment medical examination, provide evidence of immunizations, and be free from communicable diseases.
- The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities.
- The work environment involves moderate risks or discomforts which require safety precautions, such as working around moving warehouse equipment, carts, or machines.
- Males born after December 31, 1959 must be registered with the Selective Service.
- Applicants must meet all qualifications requirements within thirty (30) calendar days of the closing date of this announcement, including time in grade.
- You may be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, gowns, safety shoes, goggles, hearing protection, and gloves.
- This position is designated as a Tier 1 "emergency essential" position.
Qualifications
You qualify at the GS-06 level, if you meet one of the following qualification requirements:
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: maintaining contacts with customers, predominantly Clinical Center medical staff, to assess availability of urgent, critical shortage, and other special items; providing reliable, competent, responsive and courteous service to all customers; and utilizing computer systems to monitor, order and receive supplies.
You qualify at the GS-07 level, if you meet one of the following qualification requirements:
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: ensuring supply operations comply with supply policies and regulations; monitoring and maintaining adequate supplies to support an organization; processing and storing shipping materials; using online reporting systems to maintain and track inventory; and communicating information related to supply to customers.
