You will serve as a SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER (BASIC LIFE SUPPORT) in the SECURITY BATTALION of MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO.
Duties
You will direct firefighting activities through hazardous environments.
You will direct and assign crew to apparatus for the proper care and treatment of victims of accidents or medical emergencies.
You will instruct crew members by conducting lectures and drills concerning firefighting techniques and fire protection and prevention methods.
You will serve as Station Chief; primary duties include the direction of firefighting activities and assignments for the crews in hazardous environments, until receiving instructions from a Chief Officer.
You will assist supervisors in determining fire cause and origin; present preliminary findings to supervisor for inclusion in formal report.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- You will be required to possess a current valid United States driver’s license.

- You will be required to possess a current HAZARDOUS MATERIAL OPERATIONS.
- You will be required to possess a current State or National Registry Emergency Medical Technician-Basic Life Support (NREMT-B) certification.
- Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

- You will be required to possess a current Fire Officer I and II certification.
- You will be required to possess a current Fire Instructor I and Fire Inspector I certification.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Directing crews in the performance of various standby duties (such as maintenance and inspection of equipment, execution of training, drills and performance of low risk fire prevention inspections); taking charge of fire fighting operations; AND/or determining best utilization of firefighters and equipment for combating/mitigating hazardous environment.
