You will serve as a FIRE CHIEF in the SECURITY BATTALION of MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO.
Duties
You will brief senior leaders or other employees on matters on firefighting activities, personnel, and equipment.
You will serve as Fire Chief of the Quantico Fire and Emergency Services Branch.
You will prepare an annual budget proposal for the operation and maintenance of fire department programs.
You will analyze local conditions and fire prevention or protection programs to verify a fire department meets operational conditions.
You will assess a hazardous materials response program to verify capabilities align with program requirements.
You will determine long and short-range requirements for resources (e.g., manpower alignment, equipment, facilities, contract services, and support staff) for a fire department.

- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license. Must be able to obtain a Government Emergency Vehicle Operators License within 90 days of employment and maintain such.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination and annually thereafter, a medical employment physical.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You must be certified as a FIRE OFFICER IV by the Department of Defense (DoD), International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or ProBoard.
- You must be certified as a FIRE INSTRUCTOR II by the Department of Defense (DoD), International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or ProBoard.
- You must be certified as a FIRE INSPECTOR II by the Department of Defense (DoD), International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or ProBoard.
- This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
- You must be certified as a HAZARDOUS MATERIAL INCIDENT - COMMANDER by the Department of Defense (DoD), International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or ProBoard.
- You will be required to possess a current National Incident Management System certifications (NIMS): IS-100, IS-200, IS-300, IS-400, IS700, IS-800 IAW Presidential Directive 5 and Marine Corps Order 11000.11A.
- Must possess current National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) and/or State reciprocal to Virginias State Emergency Medical Technician Basic Current Health Care Provider Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation Certification (CPR Card)
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: Managing and overseeing the administrative of functional elements of fire suppression, fire prevention, emergency medical transport services, emergency dispatch operations, fire alarm maintenance and repair of weapons of mass destruction or chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear explosives responses and the fire training and safety sections of the organization.
