About the position: This position will be assigned to the Resource Management Flight of the 6th Force Support Squadron, MacDill AFB, FL.
Subject to satisfactory completion of a pre-employment physical (lift up to 60 lbs., stoop, climb ladders, reach and bend).
This Is A Drug Testing Designated Position. INCUMBENT IS SUBJECT TO RANDOM TESTING FOR DRUG USE.
Duties
Systems administrator for the Management information Systems (MIS), and the alternate systems administrator for the Services Information Management System (SIMS) operations. Directs, implements, controls, and analyzes the utilization of all small computers and the contents of their software. Installs, configures, and trouble-shoots network and application server hardware, operating system software, and peripheral network equipment such as routers, bridges, cabling system, network interface cards, modems, multiplexers, and concentrators. Changes the components of existing equipment for efficient operation. Develops and maintains local procedures for networks, system operations, and product assembly and installation. Monitors operations of the network and ensures that components achieve peak efficiency within the overall network connectivity. Function tests hardware and software to resolve technical problems and makes the appropriate on-site repair. Provides ongoing support, resolution of problems, and recovery of operating malfunctions involving various hardware components and software failures. Performs system backups to ensure expedient restoration of the database for the respective network equipment. Participation with users support personnel to train office personnel and functional end users in the use of the office automation computers, local and wide area networks, and other automated tools. Recommends and prepares operating policies and procedures for networks, system operations, and product assembly and installation. Maintains technical proficiency by attending expositions and meetings and through review of current communications and computer literature. Orders and maintains inventory of MIS supplies and other equipment. Provides technical advice and assistance to users who establish communications through the MIS, Time Manager, NCR Operations, Electronic Commerce Purchasing System (ESPS), and Military Troop Support. Responsible for the SIMSIMIS Blanket Purchases Agreements contract. Identifies the nature of the problem and seeks technical assistance from appropriate personnel. Unusual discrepancies are referred to HQ AFSVA and HQ AMC.

Qualifying Experience: Applicant must have responsible experience that demonstrated the ability to perform the above duties to the level of the position. Must have a general knowledge of small computers and software, the ability to work independently, and the ability to communicate effectively. Must have specialized experience in the operation of a computer system, i.e., preparing equipment for operation, set/configuration, monitoring and taking action in response to network problems. Successful completion in courses above the high school level may be substituted for specialized experience if the curriculum provided the applicant with a thorough knowledge of operating a computer system.
