You will serve as a RERO / CASUALTY RESPONSE BRANCH MANAGER in the NUCLEAR OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT, CODE 300N of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will provide technical guidance on nuclear and radiological matters focusing on assessment of nuclear and radiological work, oversight of nuclear and radiological training programs, and management of nuclear process development and improvement. You will conduct investigations and reviews, provide guidance and make recommendations on issues, actions, and related matters regarding the department's involvement in nuclear and radiological work You will seek and determine facts and alternatives to resolve or alleviate issues and review quality and radiological deficiencies to identify trends in declining performance and recommend corrective actions to shop management. You will provide technical advice and guidance to Nuclear Production Department shops on development of improved methods of performance in nuclear work processes and practices. You will conduct reviews of work performance during the course of nuclear work, on all projects on and off station, to ensure compliance with nuclear quality and radiological control requirements. You will review and monitor nuclear and radiological training programs to ensure compliance with objectives and requirements and review skill and mock-up training programs for incorporation of quality and radiological controls into lesson plans. You will conduct investigations of items and actions such as audits, surveillances, and Naval Reactors and Commanding Officer agenda and recommend a course of action to resolve the issues.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously when appropriate and observe safety rules.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: overseeing nuclear production program operations associated with the production phases of repair, overhaul, testing, and refueling work on reactor plants.
