About the Position: Serves as the Supply Technician (Armorer) for the Directorate of Emergency Services (DES) at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM). Responsible for issue, accountability, maintenance and security of weapons, sensitive items, and ammunition in the Combined DES arms room and assists the Supervisory Supply Technician with supply actions.
Duties
Serves as Accountable Property Officer for all supply and equipment items.
Controls the issuance of all expendable and non-expendable supplies and property for the Security and Access Control Division, Directorate of Emergency Services (DES.)
Prepares recurring and special reports and compiles statistics from data requiring substantial analysis, interpretation, and development of new formats.
Enters data into multiple databases.
Determines stock levels needed for non-recurring, specialized items based on usage, inventory, project demands, seasonal demands, changing customer needs and projected depletions.
Performs duties as Unit Armorer, responsible for the issue, accountability, maintenance and security of weapons, sensitive items, and ammunition in the Combined DES arms room.
Requirements
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Gun-Ammo Access ID.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
- This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
- This act bans individuals convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence and others from possession or access to firearms or ammunition. (Fraudulent information provided by candidates is criminally punishable by fine or imprisonment).
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
- In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes maintain accountability for property through an accounting and reporting system; AND conduct searches for supply information to complete supply transaction; AND provide supply support for production, overhaul or repair for weapons, sensitive items, and ammunition; AND utilize automated supply databases to enter, correct, and retrieve reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
