About the Position: Serve as a Supply Technician within the Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization & Security Training Division at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA

Duties

Processes requests for supplies and equipment. Determines appropriate sources suitable for procurement of standard and nonstandard items. Verifies budget approval, fund cite and proper authorities are assigned to each requisition before submission to Installation Property Book. Manages receipt, storage and Issue, directing temporary assistants as required to personnel at forward training support centers throughout the region. Prevents unauthorized purchases by researching appropriate supply and Purchase Card regulations. Reviews equipment requests which require express approval to ensure they are accompanied by necessary approvals.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must obtain and maintain a secret level clearance.
  • May be required to travel up to 20% of the time for business or training.
  • May be required to lift up to 70 lbs in the course of normal duties.
  • Requires a pre-employment physical due to the heavy lifting requirement.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Advising on financial programs such as: controlling operations, determining supply costs, planning & budgeting and evaluating supply management performance. 2) Reviewing equipment requests to ensure they are accompanied by the necessary approvals. 3) Reviewing monthly statements of account (SOA) using an online automated system. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
