You will serve as a Security Specialist in the Corporate Business & Analysis Group of NAVAIRWARCENWPNDIV CHINA LAKE.

Duties

You will provide daily security support in a wide range of security functional areas that include information security, physical security, personnel security, communications security, foreign disclosure and general security administration. You will provide proper protection, handling and marking of controlled unclassified information (CUI) and classified information. You will assure compliance with established security policies and procedures and coordinates command security requirements as required. You will report to the Command Security Manager security incidents and electronic spillages which includes immediate containment actions when required, and the collection of all information required for a Command Preliminary Inquiry. You will provide daily security assistance reviewing technical papers (to include web content and other information) to determine if material can be released to the public.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for STRL jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower band level. This requirement is called time-in-band. Time-in-band requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

To Qualify for the DA-03: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay band/grade level or pay band (DA-02/GS-05-08) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector in order to perform the duties of a Security Specialist. Specialized experiences must include duties related to the following: 1) Experience utilizing security policies and procedures for the proper protection of controlled unclassified information (CUI) and classified information; 2) providing training to the workforce under area of cognizance; 3) Ability to respond to security incidents and communicate with team members. 4) Analyzing security concerns and provide a recommendation to leadership; 5) Experience with the Public Release process and ability to review technical documents for publication. To Qualify for the DA-02: I have at least three years of general experience that includes one year of experience equivalent to the next lower pay band/grade level (DA-01/GS-01-04) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following: 1) Experience utilizing and applying security policies and procedures for the proper protection of controlled unclassified information (CUI) and classified information; 2) Providing training to the workforce under area of cognizance; 3) Responding to security incidents and communicate with team members; 4) Awareness of the Public Release process and ability to review technical documents for publication. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

DA-02 Level:
Successful completion of a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree

OR
A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience

DA-03 Level:

Successful completion of a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree
OR
Successful completion of 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree
OR
Possession of an LL.B. or J.D., if related
OR
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
