This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent will be responsible for planning, implementing, adjudicating, analyzing, and reporting on conclusions derived from joint wargaming.

Duties

As a WARGAMING ANALYST at the GS-0301-13 some of your typical work assignments may include: Conducts planning in support of the Chairman's Globally Integrated Wargame (GIWG) series examining future concepts and required capabilities. Conducts lifecycle planning including wargame design, objectives, analytical objectives, analysis plan, facilities requirements, identification of wargame participants, and all supporting functions. Plans work, sets priorities, and schedules work as necessary to assure effective and expeditious accomplishment of emergent tasks without adverse effect on regular and recurring work. Develops specific policies, procedures, guidelines, and practices for the GIWG program and activities under Joint Wargaming and Experimentation Division (JWED) and Wargaming Branch (WGB) purview. Prepares and presents briefings on planning, analysis, requirements, and other GIWG issues and conclusions, as required. Independently represent the branch and division leadership to boards and similar forums related to mission area, including those consisting of flag, general officer, and senior executive service. Supports programmatic and budget performance assessment of WGB efforts relative to the supported program goals and objectives.

• Incumbent may be required to perform travel from 5-10 nights per quarter or longer, if necessary, CONUS and OCONUS. Member must be willing and able to travel on military and commercial aircraft, vessels, and/or vehicles.
• The incumbent must be able to acquire and retain Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance. May include additional program security requirements in order to fully perform the responsibilities of the position.
• This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the civilian drug-testing program.
• Incumbent may be occasionally required to work other than normal duty hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and will be compensated within the scope/guidelines of government civilian employment.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-13, if you fulfill the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service: Leading defense wargaming of military operation against future concepts in order to analyze capability gaps and assessing potential solutions across doctrine, organization, training, materiel, leadership and education, personnel, and facilities (DOTMLPF); Uses military planning and operations education and/or experience, apply art and science to analyze, select, and apply elements of relevant concepts of operation, concepts of employment, and operations plans to wargame design and development; Selecting and applying past military operations, geopolitical situations and foreign military operations to develop and conduct relevant/effective wargames or exercises; Assisting in directing and ensuring an executable plan, scenario, red cell, white cell, adjudication, and analysis plan are incorporated into joint wargaming and exercise; Conduct wargame or exercise player developed by compiling, editing, and presenting scenario products to participants in order to prepare them to achieve wargame or exercise objectives; Applying joint wargaming and exercise concepts to research and develop operationally challenging scenarios that drives participants to achieve wargame or exercise objectives; Review planning team techniques and procedures in order to produce plausible threats through possible scenarios Working with joint and combined all-domain military operations in both competition and conflict. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
