This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, in the Physical Security Branch. As a Physical Security Specialist, you will provide a technically secure environment for the printing of currency at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing facilities and contract sites.
Duties
As a Physical Security Specialist, you will:
Plan, develop, and implement a comprehensive technical security program which requires knowledge in a variety state-or-the art security devices and equipment and technical proficiency in intrusion detection and video surveillance systems, technical surveillance and munitions countermeasures as well as chemical, biological, and radiological hazard countermeasures, fire protection systems, and lock and key control systems.
Design, development, or contract for, new technical protective systems when standard or available systems are inadequate.
Review property renovations proposals, plans, and specifications with architects, engineers, builders, and contractors to insure compatibility with security considerations.
Inspect construction projects to ensure compliance with security requirements.
Provide prevention or detection and analyses of the nature of possible hazards found in a physical survey and recommend appropriate countermeasures systems, equipment, and procedures for maximum protection.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes experience:
Conducting security surveys or risk assessments to evaluate security threats, vulnerabilities, or impact of loss/consequences; AND
Analyzing aspects of internal control systems (e.g. quality control systems, standard operating procedures, general policies or procedures) to determine their effectiveness or efficiency; AND
Utilizing security related equipment (e.g. surveillance cameras, card readers, electronic/manual locks, digital video recording systems, intrusion detection systems (IDS), security screening equipment) to ensure internal security requirements are met.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-12, you must have been at the GS-11 level for 52 weeks.
