About the Position: This position is within the Facility Management department at Guthrie Army Health Clinic, Fort Drum, New York.
Duties
Perform a variety of electrical maintenance tasks including installing, repairing, and troubleshooting electrical lines, circuits, systems, equipment and controls.
Install wiring, conduit, fixtures, transformers, and other electrical devices for proper and safe operation.
Service air conditioning, heating, and ventilation systems such as heaters, dehumidifiers and commercial air conditioning units for optimal performance.
Perform carpentry duties such as framing structures and rebuilding walls with respect to structural integrity.
Operate government vehicles to transport building material, tools, and equipment across the hospital campus.
Estimate plumbing, electric, and ventilation material requirements such as pipe, fixtures, wires, circuits, and refrigerant to complete service.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 50lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid Government Driver’s License.
- This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons.

Physical Effort: Moderate physical effort is used in reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls. Moderate physical effort is required in the frequent handling of objects weighing up to 20 pounds and the occasional handling of objects weighing over 50 pounds while loading and unloading cargo. Equipment requires moderate physical effort in that heavy chains, bars, hooks, etc., must be lifted and properly secured. Duties may require standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Requires considerable walking, standing on concrete floors, and climbing stairways and ladders. Light-to-moderate effort is used to turn valves and controls. Works in stretched, cramped and awkward positions. Position may require considerable standing while working on ladders or scaffolds.
Working Conditions: Incumbent works inside and outside in all kinds of weather. Is exposed to caustic and dangerous chemicals. The presence of sewage, gases and fumes such as methane, chlorine, and carbon monoxide may require the wearing and/or use of protective clothing and equipment in accordance with established health and safety regulations and SOPs. May incur contact with running motors, pumps, and machinery. Cuts, bruises, and broken bones may result from accidents. Works in cramped quarters inside and outside; exposed to mud and water; dirty, dusty and greasy conditions and injury from use of power and hand-tools and occasional use of caustic soda and hot lead.
