You will serve as a Production Controller (SHIPS) in the Service Branch Division, Repair Department of NAVAL SUBMARINE SUPPORT FACILITY.

Duties

You will have basic computer skills and understanding of the programs inside Microsoft Office to include Work, Power Point, and Excel. You will have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of personnel to gain efficient and effective production on complex and sometimes controversial issues. You will have a detailed understanding of submarine systems including complex interrelation between different systems. You will have knowledge in the Naval Submarine Support Facility (NSSF) functions and operations to support communications with other naval facilities and private industries. You will prepare and maintain historical documentation of technical and non-technical documents for submission and evaluation.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience using various process improvement activities such as Lean Six Sigma (LSS) and Theory of Constraints (TOC) at the GREEN or BLACK belt level and Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) methodologies to provide recommendations in process improvements, quality, cost reduction, and establish process metrics and controls; Experience in gathering, analyzing, and evaluating technical documents such as Industrial Ship Safety Manual, Navy Dive Manual, and NAVSEA Technical documents to draw conclusions and provide recommendations; Experience in interpreting blueprints, docking plans, sketches, and work requests to translate the information into a detailed technical work procedure in compliance with numerous technical standards; Experience in using the Work Integration and Scheduling Program (WISP) to ensure work efforts are continuously being documented by the contractors; Experience of outboard mechanics and mechanical systems, submarine hull construction and repair, submarine underwater husbandry, deck tiling, powder coating, and submarine repair and rigging.
