About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain halfway between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL just off Interstate 20. The Depot is the largest employer in Calhoun County with approximately 4000 employees.
Duties
Performs acceptance/in-process inspection and repairs of a variety of complete tracked and wheeled combat vehicles.
Utilizing full technical knowledge to ensure the full operational understanding of all tracked and wheeled vehicles.
Performs repairs, replacements and adjustments of all parts and assemblies of the combat and wheeled vehicles. Use lifting devices such as (Cranes, M88 Recovery Vehicle, Pallet Jacks and other approved lifting devices to accomplish the mission)
Utilizes Complex Automated Manufacturing System (CAMS)to start and stop production operation.
Performs identification, classification, in-process and/or acceptance inspection of automotive components and assemblies such as engines, transmissions, electrical systems, hydraulic, suspension turret and power train assemblies.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent required to travel up to 95% to perform the duties of a Field Service Representative (FSR) in a deployed status at various military installations and camps, both CONUS and OCONUS with no onsite supervision.
- Incumbent must have and maintain a valid and current driver’s license in order to drive to field locations in order to perform repairs.
- Federal Wage System employees, WG/WL/WS etc, must satisfactorily complete the appropriate annual Depot Medical Examination for Continental United States (CONUS) and Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS) deployed locations.
- Incumbent must obtain and maintain a valid Tracked and Wheeled Operators License in order to perform the duties of position.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Government issued Credit Card for TDY/Travel expenses.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain an Official Government Passport (Red) for OCONUS TDY/Travel.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a National Agency Check with Written Inquiries (NACI) background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic Inspector without more than normal supervision. inspecting a variety of combat and tracked wheeled vehicles operators. I am skilled in conducting inspections and perform repairs as necessary to maintain fully mission capable vehicle status. I am considered an expert and work with a high degree of independence. I have working and repair knowledge of the Assault Breecher Vehicle, Towed and Wheeled Artillery and JAB Bridge Launcher. I am considered an expert and work with a high degree of independence.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work involves standing, stooping and working in tiring positions. Constantly lifts items weighing 15-25 pounds and occasionally is required to lift items in excess of 45 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is dirty and greasy and incumbent is subject to cuts and bruises from use of tools and equipment and working in close places. The work is performed in area where the noise is disagreeable, making it extremely difficult to talk and be able to hear and understand instructions. Incumbent is exposed to disagreeable smoke and fumes from exhaust of engines. Is required to wear safety shoes and use ear protection. A large percentage of work is required to be accomplished under field conditions.
