About the Position: This position is located at the Rock Island Arsenal Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center (RIA-JMTC).
Duties
Serve as Branch Chief within the Logistics Directorate supporting Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center (JMTC).
Plan, develop, implement, review, analyze, measure, and improve multiple functions affecting the successful, efficient, and timely operation of JMTC Logistics - programs.
Ensure major systems, programs, and recommended or approved changes affecting areas of responsibility operate properly, efficiently, and output products are adequate and useable for the purpose intended.
Independently develop more efficient, economical, and effective ways to implement and carry out assigned materiel management functions.
Conduct meetings with representatives from various organizations and higher headquarters.
Assign work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and the requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees.
Prepare briefings, information papers, fact sheets, and management reports as required.
Conduct project and/or staff studies, surveys, or data collection through various means on current or potential issues/problems preventing or may prevent achieving optimum mission performance.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position is designated "Mission Essential."
- In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- One-year supervisory probationary period required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing integrated logistics support in a variety of areas, such as equipment, handling, supply, and transportation; leading logistics teams to accomplish assigned projects; interpreting policy, procedures, and regulations and developing local implementing procedures, methods, or programs to accomplish the objectives; and analyzing logistic activities to make recommendations for improvement or changes, identifying trends or determining potential impact on budgetary projections. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

As a supervisor, you must comply with the Army Civilian Education System (CES) course and timeline requirements. The Supervisory Development Course (SDC) must be completed within one year of placement into a supervisory position and then completed as a refresher course every three years.
