About the Position: This position is located at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.

Duties

Communicate with personnel at all levels in the medical center and from various other offices or organizations to exchange information and coordinate with different services concerning resident rotations, arrange travel, coordinate interviews, etc. Communicate with physicians and residents assigned to the service by providing updated guidance on applicable procedures, instructions, and regulations. Provide administrative support to the program director by scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, recording meeting minutes, and developing reports. Maintain several databases in support of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency/Fellowship Program. Maintain academic records for students to include independently researching and resolving discrepancies in information or missing data. Assist the Director in administering the residency program by providing technical and administrative support in the areas of accreditation, program requirements, and academic records. Utilize word processing software to produce a variety of documents. Compile, develop, write justifications, coordinate, and submit requirements for the Obstetrics and Gynecology Programs annual budget.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing administrative functions in a hospital setting, providing budget assistance, and utilizing office automation. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
