The primary purpose of this position is to manage and direct the Wright-Patterson AFB implementation of the Air Force Fitness Assessment program. Operates under the supervision of the Installation Fitness and Sports Manager, and liaison with the Fitness Program Manager.

Duties

Plans, develops, and coordinates physical fitness testing schedules for all assigned military units to include geographically separated units that report to units of assignment under wing control. Provides all training related to Fitness Assessments as designated in DAFMAN 36-2905. Grants warranted access to MyFitness. Provides initial or refresher training courses on proper FA procedures to include instructions pertinent to local administration. Trains PTLs within FAC purview and coordinates training schedule through the Fitness Programs Manager as the shift leader. Requests to purchase all supplies and required equipment to safely conduct Fitness Assessments. Procures, maintains, and replaces FA equipment such as exercise mats, toe hold bars, stop watches etc. Obtains suitable equipment and any materials as needed. Responsible for cleaning and inspecting all equipment for any pieces that may be broken.

Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Education Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- general recreation, or one of the appropriate fields of recreation such as outdoor recreation; recreation and parks leadership; wild land recreation management; natural resources recreation; youth recreation; public, urban, or community recreation; special populations recreation (e.g., senior citizens, institutional, etc.); or physical education. or Experience Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Experience that demonstrated the ability to apply the principles of one or more specialty areas of recreation. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Planning, organizing, coordinating, supervising, or evaluating community, industrial, outdoor, institutional, or other recreational programs. Planning, establishing, or evaluating a recreational curriculum for junior college or higher academic levels. Instructing in the principles and techniques of recreational program planning and management. Serving in a leadership role in the programs and activities of local, regional, and/or national recreational organizations. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-05, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience experience which may have been gained while assisting with the planning, organizing, coordinating, supervising, or evaluating community, industrial, outdoor, institutional, or other recreational programs; planning, establishing, or evaluating a recreational curriculum for junior college or higher academic levels; instructing in the principles and techniques of recreational program planning and management and serving in a leadership role in the programs and activities of local, regional, and/or national recreational organizations. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. OR EDUCATION: 1 full year of graduate level education, or superior academic achievement NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of experience and education. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-­grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-05 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. Due to the use of 120 day rosters, applicants within 120 days of completion of TIG requirements are encouraged to apply KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and exercise techniques sufficient to conduct a physical fitness assessment in accordance with American College of Sports Medicine. Knowledge of the mission, vision, values, and commitments of the Air Force (AF), MAJCOM, local Installation, and Force Support Squadron. Skill of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office and facility operations. Produce a variety of documents such as, reports, letters, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs. Highly proficient in Microsoft office programs of word, excel and power point. Skill in administering cardiovascular endurance and strength assessments. Ability to assess client fitness results to determine appropriate follow-up care. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to train patrons in large groups and/or brief groups from a wide variety of backgrounds. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
