About the Position: As a Administrative Support Assistant (OA) for the US Army Corps of Engineers' South Atlantic Division, located in Atlanta, GA this position works with the Corps five district location offices of the Corps Planning & Policy Division, located in Wilmington, NC; Charleston, SC; Savannah, GA; Jacksonville, Fl; and Mobile, AL.

Duties

Analyzes proposed and existing directives, providing assistance to supervisor and staff on policies/guidelines covering such matters as correspondence, travel, incentive awards, equipment/services, acquisitions, financial obligating procedures, etc. Serves as division timekeeper. Posts all hours worked and leave taken, prepares overtime requests; maintains time and leave files; and inputs labor report via financial management systems. Prepares travel requests, vouchers and reports, and contact travelers en-route to relay information. Review correspondence referred to the Division Chief(s), Director(s) or Commander for signature to ensure it conforms to his/her preferred style of subject matter approach; is factually correct, procedurally/grammatically accurate and is compliant. Composes replies to correspondence involving administrative matters and those matters not requiring special handling. As the Directorates Government Purchase Card manager, manages credit card accounts, commitments, obligations, and expenditures, and assures they are within the divisions budget. Reviews in detail all monthly statements for correct credits and debits. Aids the property manager in the collecting, documenting, and transfer of government property

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Administrative support for management, such as answering phone calls and maintaining files; AND 2) Experience coordinating travel, such as setting up funding and initiating training requests; AND 3) Experience aiding property managers in the receipt, storage, documentation and transfer of property. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06 or above). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
