The Senior Civilian Pay Technician (CPT) performs civilian pay program work in direct support of the Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) under the Finance Service located in Columbia, MO.
Duties

Duties may include but are not limited to:
Develops written procedures when there are no well-established procedures and provide to supervisory Civilian Pay Technician (CPT) or Financial Service Center (FSC) if it may be beneficial for use across payroll offices within Veterans Healthcare Administration (VHA).
Works with supervisor to regularly pull payroll reports to review/monitor, interpret/isolate errors and identify systemic issues/trends or areas where CPTs, Human Resources Staff or overall systems and/or guidelines need to improve; communicate errors to CPTs to handle independently regular and recurring errors/issues related to systems/external offices.
Serves along with the supervisory CPT as the facility senior technical payroll expert to Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) staff and provide data, reports, guidance, and sometimes resolution to the most complex payroll issues across the VAMC.
Independently research, resolve and respond to complex and/or non-routine verbal and written pay and leave inquiries from employees, supervisors, FSC, HR, Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) and VA Central Office (VACO) staff.
Performs other assigned duties.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Qualifications
Specialized Experience: You must have had at least one (1) full year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level. Specialized experience includes performing a full range of payroll and timekeeping duties including applying pay and leave regulations for multiple schedule types and pay schedules; verifying accuracy of payroll and making adjustments and corrections as needed; calculating overtime/comp time, etc.; preparing time and attendance/payroll information for reporting purposes; and utilizing pay systems.
